Ventura Traffic Chaos After Massive Truck Accident

A big rig carrying roughly 70,000 pounds of produce completely overturned Thursday, September 15. Parts of the truck resulted in two separate freeways. California Highway patrol reported that this truck accident resulted in heavy traffic delays along southbound Highway 101 in Ventura.

The Truck Accident Consequences

According to the Ventura County Star, the truck accident was reported at exactly 3:38 a.m. north of the Seaward Avenue exit. On the right side of the freeway, two lanes were completely blocked for a significant period of time.

Part of the truck spilled over onto the freeway on Harbor Boulevard. Consequently, this caused a blockage of lanes and an eventual temporary closure of the roadway. Traffic control on Harbor Boulevard was assisted by the Ventura Police Department.

Unfortunately, the truck accident caused southbound traffic to be delayed during both the morning and afternoon. Other drivers on the freeway were stuck with heavy delays while commuting to their jobs for the day. Furthermore, Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) reported that unloading the big rig’s cargo was part of the battle of recovering the highway back to normal.

A section of guardrail on the right side of the freeway received a good portion of damage because of this truck accident. Both CHP and Caltrans personnel were seen working on the right shoulder of the freeway as a single right lane remained fully closed into the late morning.

Fortunately, the driver of the semi-truck only suffered minor injuries and nothing more. At this time, there are no other known injuries because of this crash. This information is according to the CHP office in the Ventura-area. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
