Around 4:12 p.m. on October 12, a woman from Ventura County died and a man suffered serious injuries after their car crashed. The two were driving a 2001 Acura MDX SUV along Highway 33 north of Ojai on that Wednesday afternoon.

The Ventura County Star reported that the MDX was the only car involved in the wrongful death accident.

In addition, CHP noted that the accident occurred on the southbound side of the 33. This path is also known as Maricopa Highway. The location of the crash is roughly north of Wheeler Springs down the winding route through Los Padres National Forest land. Moreover, the Los Padres National Forest land is located specifically at mile marker 22.8.

WHO WAS INVOLVED IN THE WRONGFUL DEATH CRASH?

The Ventura County woman was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing in the MDX as a passenger. CHP revealed that she was in her 40s at the time of the incident. She will be identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office so her family can be notified.

The driver was a 42-year-old man from Taft, California in Kern County. He was airlifted by a Ventura County Air Unit helicopter to the Ventura County Medical Center for his major injuries.

THE AFTERMATH OF THE CAR ACCIDENT

The wrongful death accident was reported to 9-1-1 by a passing motorist. The CHP conducted an initial investigation which found that the driver traveled off the roadway and crashed into a hillside. This turn made by the driver caused the vehicle to flip over. Officials stated that DUI was not suspected to be a cause of the crash.

The Acura MDX was taken away as an “evidence” tow. Furthermore, information regarding the authority to remove vehicles from a scene can be found within California’s Legislature.
