One Man Was Wrongfully Killed After an Auto Accident in Valencia

One man was wrongfully killed in a car crash on Highway 126 east of the Ventura County line. On February 9, a man from Santa Paula was hit in an auto accident and died at the scene. It was reported that the man was killed very early in the morning in the Valencia crash. According to the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall office, the car crash took place at 3:30 a.m. The auto accident was on the 126, west of Wolcott Way. It was near the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, west of Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita.

One spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department revealed that the collision involved three vehicles. According to the VC Star, the vehicles included were a Freightliner semi trailer, a Volkswagen sedan, and a Honda sedan. The one man that was wrongfully killed was the driver of the Volkswagen sedan. 

It was reported that while the tractor-trailer attempted a U-turn, the Volkswagen hit the side of the big rig’s trailer.

Paramedics pronounced the Santa Paula man dead on arrival at 4:09 a.m. Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Coroner later identified the driver of the Volkswagen as 30 year old Anthony Medina.

The crash caused Highway 126 to be closed in both directions for a significant length of time. All of the westbound lanes of Highway 126 at Wolcott Way were closed for five hours. Around 8:45 a.m. all lanes were beginning to reopen.

The rapper known as Lil Wayne honored Anthony Medina’s memory on social media. Lil Wayne is known to take part in skateboarding as a main hobby. In the past, he has shared this interest with Medina.

Lil Wayne wrote about Medina in an Instagram post saying, “This man was a GREAT man. This man would wait for hours for me to show up and then skate for hours with me with the same positive energy from the moment he shakes my hand when I enter to the handshake when I leave. We lost a perfect friend last night but I’ll never step in the Berrics without taking a moment if not hours to remember him. Rest in paradise Anthony Medina. A great, positive, & perfect friend.”
