On the morning of April 5, a man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Oxnard. Around 5:09 a.m. the accident occurred at Victoria Avenue and Teal Club Road. Until family members have been contacted, the victim’s name will continue to be left unknown to the public.
WHAT CAUSED THE TWO-VEHICLE CRASH IN OXNARD?
Traffic investigator and Oxnard Police Officer Alexis Arellano discussed the scene of the crash. The officer said that the wrongful death victim was driving westbound on Teal Club Road in a 1993 Toyota Corolla. As he was approaching the intersection at Victoria, he collided with a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck. Additionally, the truck was heading northbound.
According to the VC Star, the driver of the Toyota was alone in his car. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet truck remained at the scene of the accident and fully cooperated with investigators.
THE LOCATION OF THE TWO-VEHICLE CRASH
The intersection of Victoria Avenue and Teal Club Road is located in a mostly agricultural area. Victoria Avenue does not have any stop signs but there are stop signs on Teal Club Road. The speed limit is 55 mph on Victoria Avenue.
This investigation is currently ongoing. In fact, Oxnard Police stated that they do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor in this two-vehicle crash.
SIMILAR CAR ACCIDENTS IN OXNARD WITHIN ONE WEEK
In less than one week, Oxnard has seen two other deadly car crashes.
Firstly, a head-on collision occurred on Fifth Street east of city limits on March 31. A 33-year-old man from Oxnard was driving his Volvo over solid double-yellow lines. This caused him to enter into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The Oxnard man was wrongfully killed as a result.
Secondly, there was a single-vehicle crash on North Ventura Road which involved a 46-year-old woman from Oxnard on April 2. She was driving a pickup at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, she was killed in the crash.
