Education

William Flahavan was born in San Francisco, California. He attended Saint Mary’s College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1968. He later received his Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of Law in 1971 where he was the Note and Comment editor for the Hastings Law Journal, a member of the Thruston Honor Society and graduated Order of the Coif. Mr. Flahavan was admitted to the Bar of the State of California in January, 1972.

Experience

Mr. Flahavan was managing partner of the firm of Jones & Wilson from 1978 through 1984 and thereafter was managing and senior partner of Flahavan, Hudson & Francis from its inception in 1984. Mr. Flahavan’s practice specializes in Personal Injury Litigation and he has extensive mediation, arbitration and trial experience in his area of specialization. Mr. Flahavan has also served as a member of the faculty of Ventura/Santa Barbara Colleges of Law.

Notable Publications

Mr. Flahavan continues to be the lead author of the “PERSONAL INJURY PRACTICE GUIDE” the “Bible” of personal injury lawyers. He has also authored numerous other educational works regarding pre-trial resolution of personal injury claims including “Smarter Settlements In L.A. Superior Court”.

Bar Activities

Mr. Flahavan has lectured extensively at the request of The Rutter Group, the Continuing Education of the Bar, the California Trial Lawyers Association, Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association, the Southern California Defense Counsel, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the San Francisco Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association and Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company on virtually all facets of personal injury litigation.

Highest Attorney Rating

Mr. Flahavan maintains the personal “AV” rating, the highest rating conferred by the Martindle-Hubbell Law Directory. Mr. Flahavan received the “Top Rated Trial Lawyer” award by Martindle-Hubbell in 1984 and has maintained that rating for over 30 years.
